It was a brisk and sunny late afternoon on March 13, when hundreds of foodies came together in support of Greenville’s food trucks. “We’ve invited our friends Neue and Asada to come park in our lot and serve (while we’re open) as a sign of peaceful protest against the new food truck regulations. Food trucks are relatively new to Greenville, but these mobile restaurants have been adding flavor and vibrancy to other cities for years. They could do the same for Greenville if the city can find a reasonable way to let them coexist with existing restaurants.

Hey everybody! We’re BACK! Finally! It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 2 months since we’ve last served the fine (and hungry) people of Greenville. Our trip abroad helped us to accomplish what we’d hoped – we have been newly inspired to challenge ourselves as chefs and introduce you to unique flavors from world cuisines. We were reminded that our job is to provide you with the very best food possible without making a reservation. So, it is with great pride that we introduce our latest menu.

The original mobile food? In Bangkok, Thailand we saw these boats everywhere!

2012 has so far been the greatest, craziest, and most rewarding year of our lives. Hands down!

We are SO excited to be a part of Greenville Humane Society’s WOOFSTOCK ’12! We have an Akita and a puggle at home, Eddy and Nugget respectively, who definitely make our world go ’round. It’s going to take a lot of restraint not to jump off of the truck to play with all of the dogs in attendance!

Please come out to support this fantastic cause for Greenville’s Humane Society! We’ll have treats on board for your 4-legged loved ones as well!

A festival featuring live bands and UNLIMITED SAMPLING from dozens of regional craft breweries. Mellow dogs are welcome on leashes. And munchies are on sale to go with your brew. Please print and bring your bar-coded ticket and present it at the gate for entry. Once the barcode is scanned at entry, the ticket is non-transferable. Also, you must provide a Photo I.D to receive a wristband to participate in any beer sampling. Gates open at 10:30am.

Tuesday October 30: Thomas Creek and Neue Southern are ready for the sequel! We’ll be serving food at their monthly Cask Night once again! And rumor has it there will be a masseuse on hand DIBS and a radio station in attendance. It’s going to be a blast!

Wednesday October 31: Our beloved friend, loyal Neue employee, and spectacular DJ, Jeff (DJ Chef Jeff to you, or DJ Craz-e Crane) will be melting faces at the Handlebar! We’ll be there, costumes and all!

Saturday November 3: We’ll be serving animal lovers from 11 – 5 at the Humane Society’s WOOFSTOCK ’12! Keep your eyes peeled this week and next for the Woofstock Waggin’ to be parked with us!

I will go out on a limb and say most of the food truck app developers out there have never worked on a food truck. Well this one has. I spent my last day in Greenville, SC helping out the Neue Southern gang, Graham, Lauren and Jeff. While I didn’t do most of the heavy lifting I did gain a lot of knowledge spending the day with them.

The reason I asked to help out was so I could see what types of things cause a food truck owner/operator headaches during a normal business day. How do you handle and process the orders, the line of people waiting, a faulty fryer, a windy and rainy day and so on. But I also wanted to see the little things that are not so obvious to a casual observer.

Since we are building this food truck app and web community I wanted to see how the owners managed their marketing efforts, food orders (organizing them, prioritizing them and managing the waves of orders) and payment processing. Also I wanted to watch the customers to see how they responded to everything the truck workers were doing from how the food is packaged, their feelings at closing time and whether or not they had a positive experience locating the truck – especially without having an app to show them where they are.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville will celebrate their 10 Millionth meal served this October! An awesome feat for this non-profit organization. Without the help of their 140+ volunteers, they wouldn’t be able to service all of Greenville county. So, it is our humble pleasure to be able to serve those who give of themselves so selflessly.

Here are a few things you can do to help!

Meals on Wheels is on a mission to collect 10,000,000 pennies in honor of this milestone.

Have some pennies you want to get rid of? We’ll be collecting them at the truck. We’re calling for all of your pennies! Our biggest donors will receive an unprofessional, awkward iPhone picture taken of you to be posted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and our website. We pay credit where credit is due! PLUS, we’ll give you a cookie of your choosing on us!

They also collect dog and cat food for the pets of those they service, and if you’d like to donate some, we’ll deliver it to their offices for you!

Thank you Greenville! Doesn’t it feel good to give back?
